Hereditary Alpha-Tryptasaemia (HaT) Testing

PathWest Laboratory Medicine WA is pleased to offer Australia’s first NATA-accredited test for Hereditary Alpha-Tryptasaemia (HαT).

Benefits of HαT testing

HaT is an important differential to Mastocytosis where there is elevated mast cell tryptase. In this setting early identification can:

  • Avoid invasive bone marrow biopsies

  • Improve diagnostic clarity

  • Reduce unnecessary haematology referrals.

Test information

  • Cost:$150 (WA public patients, billed to requesting institution) / $175 (external / private patients)
  • Turnaround: 4weeks
  • Sample: 3 mL EDTA blood
  • Eligibility: Patients with persistently elevated serum tryptase or clinical suspicion of HαT.
  • Accreditation: NATA-accredited, developed by PathWest Immunology.
