Medical Scientist shares key takeaways from the TSANZ Annual Scientific Meeting 2024

29/08/2024
Held annually, the Transplantation Society of Australia and New Zealand (TSANZ) Annual Scientific Meeting (ASM) focuses on advancing research, clinical practices, and advocacy to improve outcomes and increase access to organ transplantation in Australia and New Zealand.
At the 42nd TSANZ ASM that took place in Melbourne from 16 to 18 June 2024, Babette Vogels, Medical Scientist – Transplant Immunology from Immunology FSH, was one of the attendees and shares her key takeaways.
‘I found the event very educational and overall, a highly valuable experience,’ Babette said. She was particularly impressed by the diverse perspectives on transplantation, including clinical aspects, research, and emerging technologies.
Babette appreciated the opportunity to learn from experts across various fields and to gain a broader understanding beyond her role as a Medical Scientist in Transplant Immunology.
During the conference, Babette was introduced to cutting-edge research and technologies that could be applied at PathWest, enhancing the expertise within the Transplant Immunology area of the PathWest Immunology FSH department.
She highlighted the value of presentations on biomarker research and expanding donor pools through HIV-positive donors, which provided insights into future directions in transplant science. These insights are crucial for staying current with advancements and trends.
By understanding these emerging areas, PathWest can better adapt and innovate, ultimately benefiting patients and stakeholders and contributing to advancements in the field.
The conference also fostered valuable knowledge sharing and collaboration among the transplant communities of Australia and New Zealand, allowing us to learn from diverse experiences and address unforeseen challenges.
‘These insights will inform and improve our practices, driving excellence in our field,’ Babette added. ‘I’m excited to apply these learnings to enhance our performance at PathWest.’
