05/02/2026
A publication co-authored by PathWest Forensic Biology staff members Anna Heavey (Senior Forensic Scientist in Charge-Quality, Training, Safety & Risk) and Gavin Turbett (Head of Department) has been selected as a 2025 Noteworthy Article for the prestigious Journal of Forensic Sciences.
The Journal of Forensic Sciences is the official publication of the American Academy of Forensic Sciences, which each year publishes a collection of Noteworthy Articles, representing the most impactful scientific articles published in the Journal during the previous calendar year.
Since its inception in 1956, more than 70 volumes of the Journal of Forensic Sciences and hundreds of issues have been published.
This year the pair’s co-authored paper is one of only 13 articles, representing the breadth and multidisciplinary nature of forensic science, selected for inclusion in the 2025 Noteworthy Article collection.
This accolade follows the paper’s recent success in winning the peak forensic science organisation Australia and New Zealand Policing Advisory Agency – National Institute of Forensic Science (ANZPAA NIFS) 2025 Best Paper Award (Quality and Management).
Congratulations to Anna and Gavin on this latest significant achievement, which serves to highlight PathWest’s leadership in driving the future of forensic science.
