Opthalmic Pathology

The Ophthalmic Pathology subspecialty provides a comprehensive diagnostic stat-wide service for both neoplastic and non-neoplastic ocular diseases by integrating histopathology with immunohistochemistry and molecular techniques for diagnostic and prognostic purposes. We pursue a multidisciplinary approach in the assessment of complex diagnostic cases with clinical and imaging input to offer the best guide for the management of patients. We are actively involved in the education of trainees and regularly participate in Ocular Imaging-Pathology meetings, including The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists (RANZCO) Annual Meetings in WA. The division also serves as a consultation service receiving a variety of ophthalmic pathology cases for a second opinion.
