PathWest Safety Advice
Patient and staff safety is of the utmost
importance to PathWest. We undertake a variety of safety measures to ensure the
wellbeing and safety of patients attending and staff rostered/working at
PathWest collection centres across the state. PathWest has also implemented
additional measures, in keeping with public health directives and standards,
for COVID-19.
Safety Measures at PathWest Collection Centres
All PathWest collection centres take a
range of measures to ensure that the safety of patients and staff is
prioritised.
PathWest follows the Western Australian Department
of Health guidelines for infection control including the use of appropriate
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), as well adhering to hygiene requirements.
All PathWest collection staff members undergo
training in order to perform professional specimen collection safely, without
risk to patients or staff.
All PathWest collection centres are
National Association of Testing Authorities (NATA) accredited against NPAAC

COVID-19-Related Patient Safety Advice
PathWest is not currently conducting
COVID-19 swab testing at any of its community based collection centres. Please see a list
of the latest Department of Health COVID clinic locations.
Please be assured that PathWest collection centres
adhere to the current social distancing measures put in place for the COVID-19
response, including providing appropriate chair spacing in waiting room areas
and restricting how many patients can enter a centre at the one time.
PathWest staff adheres to state government
travel requirements, undergoing 14 days isolation where interstate travel has
been undertaken.
