PathWest Laboratory
Medicine WA engages in research activity across Western Australia. It is an
accredited facility with the National Association of Testing Authorities,
Australia (NATA).
PathWest has highly
experienced staff within its disciplines of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine. Its
Clinical Trials Unit operates as a fee-for-service entity with services tailored
to meet the individual requirements of each trial. Clinical Trials personnel have
up-to-date International Air Transport Association (IATA) certificates for
packing and shipping Biological substances (category B) by air.
The Clinical Trials Unit operates across Perth Metropolitan public hospital
sites. Clinical Trials in Western Australian regional areas can also be managed
by the Clinical Trials Unit.
Services provided
Accurate, precise and
reliable Clinical Trials Unit services include:
- Sample collection by phlebotomy
- Local laboratory sample processing, testing and reporting
- Central laboratory sample processing, packing and shipping interstate and overseas
- Monitored short or long-term storage at minus 80 degrees
- Development of trial-specific pathology request forms.

To obtain a PathWest quote
for your Clinical Trial, please complete the PathWest Clinical Trials Information Form and email this and the Clinical Trial Protocol to pathwestclinicaltrials@health.wa.gov.au.
Please note that the quoting process may take up to
two (2) weeks. PathWest charges quoting and set up fees for Pharmaceutical Clinical
Trials.
