Quality Management

At PathWest Laboratory Medicine WA both management and staff alike embrace the philosophy that quality is an integral part of our services.  Our organisation employs a Quality Management system that strives for continuing quality improvement in all areas that impact on our testing, research and teaching services.  This includes a comprehensive schedule of internal and external audits and participation in proficiency testing programs provided by the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia (RCPA) and other providers.
Our testing facilities are accredited by the following organisations:
  • National Association of Testing Authorities (NATA): international standards ISO 15189 (Medical Testing), and ISO/IEC 17025 (Biological Testing) including Media Preparation and Forensic Biology.
  • Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA): sterility testing of pharmaceutical products, serological testing of human tissue and cell therapy donations, microbial contamination testing of human tissue and cell therapy donations and products and In house In Vitro Devices (IVDs) used for human diagnosis and treatment.
  • Australian Quarantine and Inspection Service (AQIS): Department of  Microbiology
  • American Society for Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics (ASHI): Department of Clinical Immunology
  • Royal College of Pathologists (RCPA): Pathologist Accreditation and ongoing professional development.
