Congratulations to our Employee of the Season - Djilba

07/10/2022

Congratulations to Employee of the Season (Djilba) winner – Rebecca Wake, A/General Manager COVID-19 Pre-Analytical Operations – COVID-19 Command.

Rebecca has been with PathWest for many years as a medical scientist and then later stepped into senior roles in charge of a number of the laboratories. When COVID-19 struck, Rebecca assumed the responsibility of overseeing pre-analytical operations and guided the team (of up to 250 staff) through some truly challenging days.Rebecca is somebody who goes about her role with grace and commitment, and no matter how busy she is, she always has time to support and guide her staff and make them feel valued.  She strives to deliver excellent outcomes and through leading by example she inspires her team to do the same.
Rebecca more than encompasses the six PathWest strategic pillars, but in particular engaging, developing and inspiring our people. Rebecca’s management style has greatly contributed to a culture where staff feel confident to speak up with their creative ideas and work together to achieve the best outcomes for patients and the community more broadly.
One staff member said “Rebecca was an excellent manager and leader during my time in the COVID Command team. She led by example and was an inspiration to her team. Rebecca was extremely busy during the time I was in the team and yet she made an effort to get to know me and all members of the team - no matter their job level or description”.
Well done Rebecca, your professionalism, commitment and dedication to your role and your staff cannot be faulted and you are a very deserving winner of Employee of the Season (Djilba – August-September). Rebecca will receive a certificate and $150 voucher courtesy of our Staff Recognition Program sponsors Paywise and HESTA.
