From an early age, Professor Wendy Erber's fascination with human biology ignited her curiosity. This passion led her to study Medicine in Sydney, where she delved into the intricacies of human diseases. Through the journey, a steadfast determination emerged, shaping her path towards scientific exploration.
Wendy pursued a Doctorate at Oxford University, where she discovered a calling in pathology, specifically haematology.
Wendy dedicated herself to understanding blood disorders, particularly in those battling the relentless challenge of leukaemia. In her current role as a Consultant Haematologist at PathWest, Wendy remains committed to patient care and scientific progress.
In addition to her work at PathWest, Wendy is a Professor of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at UWA where she continues to work towards advancing medical understanding in her field.
Mentorship, a pillar of Wendy's journey, weaves through her story. Guiding aspiring Haematologists, she imparts her knowledge and fosters the growth of scientific minds. Regardless of their chosen paths, Wendy believes in nurturing their potential.
One of Wendy's recent collaborations between UWA and PathWest, the Immuno-flow FISH project, exemplifies her dedication to her work. This ground-breaking research pushes the boundaries of innovation, promising new insights into blood disorders and reflects her continuing drive to improve patient care through cutting-edge methods.
