Rare Disease Day 2024

Rare Disease Day 2024

15/03/2024
Rare Disease Day is celebrated globally on 29 February 2024 raising awareness to improve the access to diagnosis and treatment for those living with a rare disease, their families and carers.
At PathWest, we have organised a number of events to acknowledge the significance of this day, highlighting the outstanding work of our teams in paving the way for scientific advancement, treatment and a brighter future for those affected by rare diseases.
Joined by our guest speaker, Andrew Bannister, Ambassador of Rare Voices Australia, our Chief Executive Dr Narelle Hadlow, Board Chair Ms Angie Paskevicius, Diagnostic Genomics Head of Department Dr Dimitar Azmanov, Board Member Mr Tony Vis, Acting Chief Pathologist Dr David Smith, Biochemistry QEII Head of Department Dr Simon Carrivick and other PathWest staff, we not only recognise the rarity of these diseases but also the strength, courage, and unwavering spirit of those who face them daily.
Thank you to our guest Andrew, and our teams who contributed and participated in making this year's Rare Disease Day a memorable one.
