WACIC Biobank COVID-19 Immunity Study

We have finished recruiting for the WACIC Biobank!

A total of 682 adults and children have been recruited into the WACIC Biobank across three defined cohorts. Over 1800 sets of samples have been collected from participants, and more than 42,000 individual vials of biospecimens (serum, plasma, whole blood, immune cells, and saliva) have been stored in the Biobank for future COVID-19 research.

Thankyou to all our participants that contributed their time and samples to this valuable project!

What projects have used samples from the Biobank?

Five projects have been approved to use samples and health data from the Biobank. The project titles are listed below:

  1. Characterise the SARS-CoV-2 antibody responses in convalescence and over time in patients with different severities of COVID-19 and their seropositive close contacts and describe the antibody responses associated with neutralisation of SARS-CoV-2.

  2. Characterise the cellular immune responses to SARS-CoV-2 associated with effective SARS-CoV-2 immunity over time, including the characteristics of memory B cells and defining the key viral peptides that elicit antiviral T cell responses.

  3. Compare the performance of different immunoassays for measurement of antibody responses in the convalescent diagnosis of SARS-CoV-2 infection.

  4. Analyse the Genomic profile of those affected to identify if there are genetic pre-disposing factors for developing severe infection.

  5. Full Metabolomic analysis of COVID-19 positive patients in WA.

I was a participant and would like to withdraw my participation
