Recognition of Service Awards 2021
PathWest held their Recognition of Service Awards on Friday 26 November at UWA Club where we honoured our 20, 30, 40 and 50 year long serving staff members.
We celebrated 67 staff members who have reached a 20, 30, 40 or 50-year year milestone. This equates to a massive 1510 years of collective service!
There are also local 10 year celebrations taking place throughout the service with a further 111 recipients amounting to a further 1,110 years of service.
This commitment and loyalty to our service helps to build our reputation and deserves to be celebrated and PathWest Board Chair Ms Angie Paskevicius and A/Chief Executive Mr Adrian Bautista were on hand to personally congratulate each and every staff member from the 20s, 30s, 40s and 50s club!
The work our teams do are not only life changing, they are often lifesaving - from our phlebotomists, specimen collectors and couriers in the community, to the pathologists, technical assistants, laboratory assistants, scientists, support teams and corporate staff, the role they play is often unsung but a very important one, and often takes place behind the scenes.
John Blennerhassett, our 50-year recipient was in the 1st WAIT (now known as Curtin) graduation cohort with a Bachelor of Applied Science. In 1971 he was appointed to an RPH Cadetship majoring in Biochemistry and Microbiology and as a post-graduate he began permanent work in Microbiology then moved to Biochemistry, his preferred major.
John noted the most significant changes in pathology from 50 years ago to the present is the "integration of rapid advancements of Information Technology, particularly the development of Total Laboratory Automation along with intelligent Analytical Systems to achieve greater outcomes".
Congratulations to all of our long serving PathWest colleagues!
