  • Rhesus D Non-Invasive Prenatal Testing now available at PathWest 04 November 2024 Commenced on 4 November 2024, the Rhesus D Non-invasive Prenatal Testing (RHD NIPT) screening test is now available for pregnant patients who are Rhesus D-negative, do not already have anti-D antibodies and are fully covered under Medicare.   • Immunosuppressant service changes to 7 days per week starting on 7 January 2024 06 February 2024 PathWest has commenced the seven-day-per-week immunosuppressant service. Registrars will be exempt from the obligation to contact the on-call pathologists at PathWest to obtain authorisation to send samples on weekends.To facilitate an efficient workflow and assure prompt delivery of service, please note the following sample processing times and kindly distribute this information to other staff members. To obtain same day results (by 4 pm) for Tacrolimus, Sirolimus, Everolimus, and Cyclosporin test requests, samples must be received in testing laboratory (CBPT, QEII MC, Level 1, PP Block, Hospital Avenue, Nedlands, WA 6009): Monday - Saturday by 2pm, and Sundays/public holidays by 1pm.   • Sampling time recommendations for mast cell tryptase in association with suspected event causing mast cell activation 22 December 2023 This service update is regarding PathWest sampling time recommendations for mast cell tryptase in association with a suspected event causing mass cell activation (e.g. anaphylaxis). The changes are in line with sampling times recommended in UK and Australian guidelines published by the Australian and New Zealand Anaesthetic Allergy Group (ANZAAG), National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) and British Society of Allergy & Clinical Immunology (BSACI). Sample collections for mast cell tryptase are now recommended to be taken: Close to 1-2 hours after the event (no later than 4 hours), and At least 24 hours after the event to obtain a baseline level.
