ENT - Head and Neck

The Head and Neck subspecialty team in the Discipline of Anatomical Pathology PathWest  provides a comprehensive pathology service examining a wide range of specimens received from across the state. Our pathologists work in close collaboration with ENT, maxillofacial, oral, plastic and endocrine surgeons, as well as attending regular multidisciplinary team meetings as part of our patient centred focus.

Our service provides the following:

  • High quality routine diagnostic service to patients with a spectrum of head and neck disease;
  • A referral centre for review of challenging cases or those requiring ancillary investigations including FISH and molecular pathology;
  • A consultation service for clinicians, surgeons and radiologists in regard to the most appropriate sample to improve diagnostic yield;
  • Regular attendance at multidisciplinary team meetings with direct contribution to patient management;
  • Active participation in postgraduate teaching and research activities.
