Endocrine Pathology

The endocrine subspecialty deals with the diagnosis and characterisation of diseases involving the endocrine system including thyroid, parathyroid and adrenal glands.  A wide range of conditions, both neoplastic and non-neoplastic, can be encountered and accurate diagnosis often requires close collaboration between Pathologists, Radiologists and Endocrine surgeons. PathWest have a team of Pathologists with particular interest in this area, who provide a full range of diagnostic services including interpretation of diagnostic biopsies, attendance and/or evaluation of cytopathology fine needle aspirations and reporting of surgical resections. We actively participate in multidisciplinary teams involved in the management of patients with endocrine disorders, including regular attendance at the multidisciplinary meetings.  We have strong research links with our clinical colleagues.
