Uropathology

Genitourinary pathology is a subspecialty in Anatomical Pathology which deals with the diagnosis and characterisation of diseases involving the urinary system, such as kidneys, bladder, ureter and the male reproductive system, such as prostate and testicles. A wide range of conditions, both neoplastic and non-neoplastic, can be encountered and accurate diagnosis often requires close collaboration between pathologists, radiologists and urologists.

PathWest has a team of pathologists with particular interest in this area, who provide a full range of diagnostic services including interpretation of biopsies and comprehensive evaluation of surgical resections. We actively participate in multidisciplinary teams involved in the management of patients with urologic disorders, including regular attendance at the fortnightly multidisciplinary meeting.
