  • Medicare Assignment of Benefit – changes from 1st July 07 September 2026 Medicare Assignment of Benefit – changes from 1st July. PathWest is a bulk billing pathology service, we will bulk bill the cost of your tests to Medicare provided there is a Medicare fee available for that test (unfortunately not all tests are covered by Medicare click here for more information). For PathWest to bulk bill your tests, you will need to sign the “Medicare Assignment” box on your pathology request form (example below). When you attend our patient collection centres, our staff will show you where to complete the pre-assignment box, sign and date. If your doctor or medical practice is collecting the tests to submit to PathWest, please ask them to allow you to sign the “Medicare Assignment” box. Note: If you have not signed the “Medicare Assignment” box, then you will receive a bill for your tests in the mail. Some/a...

Collection centres that normally operate on Saturdays will be open on Saturday 4 April 2026. Regular opening hours resume on Tuesday 7 April 2026.
